What is this about? AOL announced that it would start charging marketers spammers per email delivered around the spam filters thus guaranteeing delivery of bulk email for cash. AOL wants us to believe this is all about fighting spam but my fear is that is yet another step on chipping away at Net Neutrality.

Apparently a lot of people think the same and a coalition has been formed to fight AOL’s plan. Signatories include AFL-CIO, Tim O’Reilly, Gun Owners of America, the Democratic National Committee, the EFF, MoveOn.org, and RightMarch.

Observing the above left-right coverage one may think that AOL has taken them seriously, not so according to AOL’s spokesman, he said the groups was: “reminiscent of the bar scene in the first Star Wars movie.”

AOL is not doing well in the XXI century, I keep wonder how some people losers can pay $22 per month for a dial-up connection only to be bombarded with pop-up ads at every click and now with _certified_ spam.

They only get what they deserve, as far as I am concerned AOL should cut off completely from the Internet and return to their _walled garden_ thus _protecting_ their subscribers from the _dangers_ of the Internet. Ironically, they will still get spam, certified spam!
